The Concept

Situated in the heart of the Old Town, two steps from the Hôtel de Ville, the Espace is
quite different from the conception we have of museums that are typically established in a writer's home. For there are no childhood souvenirs, or original furnishings, in fact there is no attempt at all to recreate the ambiance of his life or time. Here, the aim is rather to sustain the legacy of Rousseau, and to highlight the profound impact that his work has had on political thought and modernity.

An audiovisual tour using sophisticated technology allows visitors to take a 25 minute
journey through the life of Rousseau, in the language of their choice: French, German, Italian, English or Japanese.
